At Rainbow Club Australia, we are fortunate to have an incredible community of parents, friends, and supporters who go above and beyond for our members. This September, we are delighted to share the inspiring story of Tanya Jarvis, a devoted mother and friend of Rainbow Club, who will be running her very first marathon at the Sydney Marathon. Tanya’s journey is one of resilience, determination, and a deep commitment to giving back to the community that has supported her family for many years.

A Family’s Journey with Rainbow Club

Tanya and her husband, Jeremy, are proud parents of two wonderful children, Kobe and Gemma. Kobe joined Rainbow Club at the age of 4.6 years, where he quickly began to thrive in our supportive environment. Over the years, he transitioned to our Active Moves program at Caringbah, and now, Gemma has joined Rainbow Squads, continuing the family’s strong connection with Rainbow Club.

When Kobe turned 18yrs old, the family navigated many changes—adjustments in education, the medical system, and therapy. Amidst these transitions, Rainbow Club has been a constant source of support and stability. “The consistency of our swimming teachers has been invaluable, providing Kobe with a sense of security and continuity. His long-term swim teacher has developed a deep understanding of Kobe’s communication needs, including interpreting non-verbal cues, speech, and Key Word Sign. This trusting relationship has been instrumental in Kobe’s progress and enjoyment in the water.” Says Tanya Jarvis

Kobe’s journey has been marked by resilience and courage. Diagnosed with 22q11.2 Deletion and Autism, Kobe’s challenges are met with the unwavering support of his family and the Rainbow Club community. To learn more about 22q11.2 Deletion, visit www.22q.org.au

Preparing for the Sydney Marathon

Tanya’s marathon journey began with the guidance and encouragement of her Blitz Training Coach. Thanks to the coach’s expert strategies, goal-setting techniques, and personalised training plan, Tanya has already completed several significant milestones, including the Half HOKA Sydney Marathon, S2S, 10K Sydney Harbour Run, City2Surf, Park Runs and countless training schedule sets. Now, she is ready to take on the ultimate challenge: the Sydney Marathon.

Running has become more than just a physical activity for Tanya—it is a source of resilience and emotional release. As she prepares to cross the finish line, she does so with a deep sense of pride, knowing that her efforts will help Rainbow Club continue its mission. The funds raised through Tanya’s marathon campaign will go towards supporting the work of Rainbow Club, enabling more young people to learn to swim, become part of a supportive community, and experience the same joy and progress that Kobe and Gemma have.
